Just in time for the holidays, Walmart has announced two significant changes to its marketplace shopping experience.
Beginning in mid-November, Walmart will be making millions of marketplace items available for free two-day shipping without a membership fee. Furthermore, Walmart will be simplifying the returns process for items purchased from marketplace sellers., including the ability to facilitate returns of those items at any of Walmart’s 4,700 stores.
Expanding Free Two-Day Shipping to Marketplace Items
For two years, Walmart has offered free two-day shipping with no membership fee on millions of items. In the coming months, Walmart.com customers will see millions of additional items become eligible for free two-day shipping as Walmart works with hundreds of their high-performing marketplace sellers.
Offering Simple Returns for Marketplace Items – Online and In Store
In an effort to create a great product return experience, Walmart is simplifying the return process for marketplace items. Under the new initiative, which is beginning to roll out now, all a customer has to do is log in to his or her Walmart account, print out a return label and ship back to the seller. Additionally, to make it even more convenient for the their online consumers, Walmart is launching the ability to return eligible marketplace items in store.
Starting in mid-November, here’s how in-store returns will work:
- The customer packages the product for return
- The customer brings the item to the Services desk at any Walmart store
- Walmart will facilitate the return by shipping the item back to the seller, and the customer will receive the refund from the seller.
